Tasikmalaya, August 20, 2024 – In today’s rapidly advancing digital era, the need for innovative and sustainable solutions in environmental management has become increasingly urgent. Addressing this challenge, Minnova has emerged as a digital platform application officially launched to provide comprehensive solutions for used cooking oil waste management, with a focus on education and empowerment. Developed by a team from the Indonesia University of Education (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia) under the P2MW program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Minnova was designed by Kaffita Dewi Silaturahma, Alifya Arina Zahra, and Najwa Alya Zulkifli, students of the 2022 class from the Digital Business Study Program, under the supervision of Mrs. Syti Sarah Maesaroh, S.P., M.M.
With a strong vision to become a pioneer in sustainable innovation by transforming waste into valuable assets, improving environmental quality, and enhancing community welfare, Minnova focuses not only on technology but also emphasizes sustainability through a commitment to community-oriented approaches, education, and empowerment. Through collaboration with communities and continuous education, Minnova strives to create a positive impact that goes beyond waste management by raising environmental awareness and fostering the capacity-building of broader communities.
As a platform for managing used cooking oil waste, Minnova offers not only a service to exchange used oil for points that can be redeemed for various incentives but also plays a crucial role in raising public awareness about the importance of responsible waste management. With a strong community focus, Minnova collaborates with various community groups, including SMEs and environmental organizations, to create an ecosystem that supports better waste management.
One of the key initiatives in Minnova’s efforts is the “Candle Couture” workshop, held on July 28, 2024. This event, which garnered widespread attention, successfully brought together diverse groups, ranging from students to housewives, in an atmosphere full of enthusiasm. During the workshop, participants had the rare opportunity to learn firsthand how to make aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil. Through practical guidance, participants not only gained new skills but also learned how to transform waste into high-value products.
The “Candle Couture” workshop not only served as an educational platform but also acted as a catalyst for social change. Through this activity, Minnova demonstrated its commitment to empowering communities with knowledge and skills that can be directly applied in everyday life. This initiative reflects Minnova’s efforts to strengthen community engagement while fostering awareness and active participation in waste management.
Education is a cornerstone in Minnova’s strategy. The educational feature within the app provides in-depth information on effective and eco-friendly ways to manage used cooking oil waste and highlights the negative impacts that can arise if waste is not properly handled. Through a variety of educational content and practical workshops like “Candle Couture,” Minnova seeks to provide a deep understanding of the importance of responsible waste management while enhancing community skills.
Minnova is committed not only to pioneering used cooking oil waste management at the local level but also to expanding its impact globally. One of the main strategies to achieve this goal is by exporting the processed used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles to international markets. This initiative will not only introduce Minnova’s innovative products to the global market but also expand its positive environmental and economic impacts on the community.
By exporting aromatherapy candles made from used cooking oil, Minnova aims to widen its market reach and tap into international consumers who are increasingly concerned about eco-friendly products. These aromatherapy candles are not just sustainable alternatives to conventional products but also showcase that waste can be transformed into high-value goods that are in demand in global markets.
Furthermore, this export effort also plays a role in empowering the surrounding community. Minnova plans to involve local communities in the candle production process, from collecting used cooking oil waste to the actual candle-making process. Through training and cooperative programs, local communities will gain new skills that can increase job opportunities and improve their economic well-being. By directly engaging the community, Minnova not only expands its global market reach but also ensures that the benefits from these exports directly support local communities.
With a community-oriented, education, and empowerment-driven approach, Minnova is poised to become a pioneer in the digital transformation of used cooking oil waste management in Indonesia, inspiring widespread positive change for the environment and society. The official launch of the Minnova app marks the first step in realizing this vision, bringing sustainable innovation accessible to everyone. Through this app, Minnova hopes to extend its reach and make a tangible contribution to creating a cleaner and healthier environment. With its flagship features, Minnova is optimistic about driving better behavioral change in used cooking oil waste management across Indonesia while strengthening its commitment to continuous innovation for a greener future.
