Bandung, January 27, 2026 — Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) welcomed representatives of the Palestinian Students Association in Indonesia (PMPI) in a meeting aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and expanding networks for Palestinian students in Indonesia, particularly at UPI. The meeting was attended by representatives from UPI’s Directorate of Partnerships and International Affairs (DPIA), the International Students Association (ISA) of UPI, and the President of PMPI.

PMPI currently implements various programs and initiatives across regions in Indonesia where Palestinian students are enrolled, with approximately 62% of students located in Java. In line with this, PMPI seeks to establish strategic partnerships with universities in Java, including UPI, to support academic mobility and student development.
During the meeting, PMPI President Shaker Abushukor expressed interest in exploring a potential collaboration with UPI, particularly regarding scholarship opportunities for Palestinian students. Pupung Purnawarman, M.Sc.Ed., Ph.D., Head of DPIA UPI, noted that potential scholarship support is available, especially for postgraduate programs. This was further reinforced by Prof. Eri Kurniawan, M.A., Ph.D., Head of the International Partnerships Division, who emphasized UPI’s commitment to welcoming Palestinian students and to providing ongoing information on scholarship cooperation between the two institutions.

Additionally, the International Students Association (ISA) of UPI reaffirmed its commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for international students. ISA provides academic, personal, and language-related support and expresses their readiness to collaborate with PMPI through open communication channels.
The meeting concluded in a warm and constructive atmosphere, marking a strengthened partnership between PMPI and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. This collaboration is expected to strengthen educational ties between Indonesia and Palestine and create broader opportunities for international student mobility.
