Cibiru, Indonesia – Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Cibiru campus has had a great achievement of being included in the prestigious World Class University (WCU) program. This achievement was talked about by Dr. Rendi, who is newly appointed as a doctor from Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program. As one of the youngest and most promising doctors, Dr. Rendi has shown remarkable research and publishing skills with the highest Scopus-indexed journal article count and index in UPI Cibiru.
In 2024, Dr. Rendi succeeded to be part of the much sought after WCU program which is highly competitive among top lecturers within UPI and outside UPI alike. The implementation of Dr. Rendi’s WCU program mostly centered on management & leadership especially writing high-impact research articles that meet Scopus indices Quartile 1 or 2 (Q1 or Q2) tough requirements. Achieving this goal is highly challenging and prestigious.
As part of the WCU activities, Dr. Rendi invited Professor Thien from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) to lead a workshop on how to write articles that have a big impact. Professor Thien’s session was an important part of Dr. Rendi’s WCU program, providing useful advice and encouraging academic conversations with the lecturers at the PGSD Study Program, UPI Cibiru. While he was there, Professor Thien, who is also an Adjunct Professor at UPI Cibiru, said he wanted to keep working together in the future. He saw great potential in UPI Cibiru, especially in its people, management, and campus growth, which he believed had a bright future.
Professor Thien’s area of interest matches his skills in leadership and management, which makes working with UPI Cibiru very suitable and helpful. To thank him for his efforts, Deni Darmawan, who is in charge of UPI Cibiru, gave Professor Thien three of his books, one of which is his 60th book called “The Dynamic of VCDLN.” This book, which he wrote with his research team, was created at UPI Cibiru with the help of the Development Center Innovation Robotics for VCDLN (DCIRV).
Further to achieve the expected objectives of the WCU program at WCU, Dr. Rendi then made a 16-day academic visit to USM in Malaysia under the guidance of Professor Thien. The success of Dr. Rendi in the WCU program became an inspiration for the other lecturers at UPI Cibiru. This became a remarkable phenomenon and in line with the leadership initiative to increase the status of the campus, striving for accomplishment more than other regional campuses and even the central UPI campus.
It proves the struggle, discipline, and togetherness existing in the UPI Cibiru family. All leaders and staff at UPI Cibiru work for a more respectable and popular campus in the eyes of the world. May Dr. Rendi always be graced with success and good health, contributing toward the brilliance of UPI Cibiru and the general prominence of UPI at the global level.
